Saving the Day on the Celestine Prophecy Movie

Our collective agreement to practice this paid off quickly during a challenging night shoot early in the schedule. Night shoots are inherently dangerous because of restricted visibilbity and the concentration of people within a small lighted area. This night we had the additional complication of using a large camera crane, weighing several tons. At one point everything seemed ready: the cane was set up over our heads looking down at the set, the actors were lit and prepared, and the director was about to roll film -- when suddenly, one of our camera assistants began yelling for everyone to get away from the set. We darted in all directions only to realize nothing had happened. Still the assistant kept us back. Then, to our shock, the large cane began to sway gently and finally toppled into the middle of everything, exactly where dozens of us had been standing only moments earlier. The ground had shifted under one the crane's large legs, causing it to collapse.

How did our crew member know? Did he see something? Not really, he told us. He just had a feeling, a hunch, that something was wrong.
